How Diaphragm Pumps and Compressors Work?

Gas diaphragm pumps, also known as membrane pumps, are reciprocating pumps. An eccentric transforms the motor’s rotational movement into an up and downward motion of a con-rod. Attached to the con-rod is a flexible diaphragm.

The linear movement of the con-rod causes the diaphragm to sweep through a clearance volume within the pump head. On the down-stroke air or gas is drawn into the pump head assembly. During the up-stroke, the media is expelled outward.
