Gas detection has become a crucial tool to ensure the safety of workers across a number of key industries. To protect workers, gas detectors use various types of sensors to measure the environment around the user or measure a confined space before the user even enters the area. A gas detector may indicate an immediate danger, such as explosive methane or a lack of oxygen, or may measure quantities of gases where longterm exposure is a concern, such as VOCs (volatile organic compounds) or particulates. Apart from worker safety, gas detectors and analyzers are also used in diverse everyday applications including vehicle emissions monitoring, security screening at airports and estimating the shelf life of groceries. The demand for these devices has been picking up in recent years, driven by factors such as increased government regulations regarding workplace safety. The value of the global gas detection equipment market alone could, according to some estimates, double in the 2021-2028 period, reaching over 8 billion USD.
